Prof Bertrand Mbatchi

Bertrand Mbatchi is a personality from Gabon . Since, he is the Secretary General of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education. He holds a doctorate in plant biology and physiology from the University of Poitiers , Bertrand Mbatchi began his academic career in 1987 at the University of Sciences and Techniques of Masuku (USTM), in Gabon , occupying the positions of assistant, lecturer then full professor .

He has exercised various educational and political functions in Gabon.

He has been:

  • Head of Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Masuku University of Science and Technology (USTM) (1990-1991)
  • Vice-rector of USTM  (1991-2006)
  • President of the USTM Research Commission (1991-2006)
  • Founder and Head of the Agronomy and Biology Research Unit (1991-2011)
  • Chairman of the LMD Steering Committee ( License – Master – Doctorate ) (2008-2011)
  • Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Estates General of Education, Research and Training-Employment Matching (2010)
  • President of the National University Map Projection Commission (2010)
  • President of the Scientific and Educational Council of the USTM (2011)

On the policitcal front, he has been:

  • Advisor to the Gabonese Minister of Higher Education and Technological Innovation (2006)
  • Advisor to the Gabonese Minister of Higher Education (2007)
  • Secretary General of the Gabonese Ministry of Higher Education (2008)
  • Secretary General of the Gabonese Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Technological Development (2009)
